I picked this little fellow up at the thrift for only $2.99 Canadian. It works fine but the picture has a greenish tint to it no matter how you adjust the colour. manual or using the auto picture.
Its missing the picture button but you can swap the power button to change the settings. has a small chunk of the housing out of the left side. Its scratchy in the controls but I am sure some deoxit or nutrol will clean that up.
I took it to a local repair shop but the fellow said it was not worth looking at and said he had an RCA 12inch to sell me for $50.00.
I think he just wanted the sale.
Now is this worth fixing up? I like the Trinitrons and learned by reading posts in these forums that they have one of the best pictures.
I now have a fellow in line that used to work for a TV repair service for many years that is now retired. Should I take it to him or is this going to be a money pit?

Unican, if you decide to trash it, which I hope you don't, I'd like to buy the VHF (2-13) selector knob from you. My 1203 has a wrong replacement on it, and it wont show the correct channel numbers.

With a black and white image,is it totally green or just shaded green? If just shaded a bit,then you could make the adjustments,but without some kind of colorimeter (color analyzer),you'd be ballparking the adjustments.

However,you could still correct the greenish tint by eyeball.The only controls that you'd be able to see a visable change would be the low IRE levels,labelled either rbkg,bbkg,gbkg or rcut,bcut,gcut.The DRV controls are for the higher IRE levels and you can't always see the changes.

If you could find a way to input a gray scale stairstep test pattern,you could adjust until you have a decent transition from balck to white,with the middle bars looking gray,not puple,green,brown,red,etc.

I found a Sony KV 1215 a couple of months ago in a thrift store here for $4.99 Cdn and couldn't believe what excellent condition it was in, not a mark or scratch on it and the picture even with the built in antenna is phenomenal. Has the wooden cabinet surround. Why on earth anyone would toss it is beyond me, it's obvious it never got much use.

You would be amazed at what turns up at thrifts.
