Someones selling two NOS Zenith 13" B&W sets on ebay!
Not the most collectible sets in the world but how often does NOS come along!

I had a Zenith J121Y TV that I bought new in 1978. Twelve inch picture, black cabinet (which I eventually covered with woodgrain contact paper) and a beautiful picture, using its monopole antenna and UHF loop (later changed to bowtie). I lived in a near-fringe TV reception area at the time. Brought the set with me (in addition to two 19" color sets) when I moved to an apartment in 1999. Kept the Zenith a year, then got rid of it when I found out I had no room for three TVs. The set wouldn't bring in Cleveland's channel 3 worth a darn with its monopole antenna (the area I moved to and live in now is a semi-fringe area for Cleveland TV, being some 40 miles northeast of the transmitters; everyone here has cable anyway, which the Zenith won't take unless I used it with a cable box). Finally put the Zenith, along with a Commodore 64 computer for which I had no room (and couldn't sell if my life depended on it, though goodness knows I tried), out for the trash.
It's too bad I got rid of the Zenith TV, because that was one darn good set. Twenty-two years and not one bit of trouble with it, except the detented UHF channel selector broke sometime in the '80s, locking the tuner on one channel. That didn't matter much when the set was new, but when Cleveland's CBS TV affiliate went to a UHF channel in the early '90s (the station had been on channel 8 over forty years) I wouldn't have been able to see it on the small portable anyway, even though the UHF station Cleveland's CBS moved to is one of the strongest television stations in town. I don't even know what channel the UHF tuner wound up being frozen on when the detent let go. Hmmm. :dunno: :scratch2:
