No, not rare at all! Heck, Just the other day my Zenith Chromacolor was jittering horizontally, and it was just low on hydraulic fluid in the beam swinger. You know; it started getting air bubbles and made the hydraulic ram shudder as the beam swinger was going back & forth. And let's not forget how Steve D's CTC-5 got low on lighter fluid in May and the pilot light in the channel window went out :lmao:

I'd convert it to Propane!

I would avoid propane since it's falmmable. I would either use bottled nitrogen or R-410A (Puron).

dont laugh.i once serviced a small sony portable that ran from a tiny honda generator.
had to bring in some gasoline to the shop to test run it.
took a small bottle and funnel to the gas station and got a few ounces.
cashier joked that they were out of rags.got a real funny look when i told her it was to test a tv set!

My set is so old it's kerosene powered. Every so often I have to take off the back and make sure all the wicks are lit.....
