This combo just popped up in my eBay search... No photos but says it's 70s 25". As far as I remember, there weren't any RCA combos after CTC-40. If it were West Coast, I'd eMail him. Still curious what it is!

WOW 80 inches long! I just Emailed the seller asking to check the CTC number on the set. I did not RVB7139 in the 1976 SAMS index. It would be interesting to see what it is.

The RVB # is just a cabinet number of some kind. All the RCAs have one burnt into the wood near the top on the back. Most seemed to say RVB-274, and I never knew exactly what it represented :scratch2:

I just got a picture back from the folks selling the Tv. They gave some more numbers off the back that did not make sense. I asked for the CTC number.

control panel looks like it may be CTC-54 which had varactor tuning if I remember correctly.

Yes I believe that set does have varactor tuning and remote. I had one like it and could never get the remote to work correctly. As I remember it had a solid state brain for the color and tint adjustments. The set had a vey good picture.

I emailed the guy a couple of times, telling him that I was interested in this beast if he still had it (all 80+ inches, it WILL fit in my van, BARELY), and got no response. So, I did it again, several days ago. STILL no response.

Did anyone here talk to this guy, or has anyone else acquired it? It does appear to be a ctc-54.

Hi,
I have spoken to the owner and he promised to allow me to have it. I am renting a truck and will be visiting him on the 27th. I hope he keeps his promise because I have gone to alot of trouble to arrange a trip up to PA from Boca Raton, FL.
I will be posting photos of before, during, and after restoration. Also, I will likely part with it when I get other home entertainment centers as time goes by. I am very excited as I have been wanting one for years. I have just begun to collect consoles. I have a '68 Motorola Quasar coming from Omaha soon. I hope I haven't disappointed you. I know that feeling very well.
Thanks, John

Wow, John, you REALLY want that TV, don't you?!

See, while you're passing through MD you should take a detour & fill the rest of the truck up with those sets I'm trying to get rid of!

I have a manual(somewhere) on the radio-phono section, with a cabinet breakdown. unlkie most combos, the Tv audio does NOT depend on the litte puny amp on the TV chassis, Nor is it ran through the Radio. Rather, it has it's own amp, a cap-coupled SS one, an rs-252,probably 6-10w/ch, for JUST the tv audio. The stereo has a similar amp, the rs-266, which is far bigger, with to-3 silicon outputs, probably 25-30 w/ch. Not to mention, full remote, and a SS ctc-54, tv chassis, with a matrix tube, which is kinda rare nowdays. I am guessing that thing cost someone about $1500 or MORE, back in '72, or '73!!

I did kinda want it, BUT I would have to go all the way out there to get it, I didn't really have room to store it, and I am making a TV-run to nebraska get a ctc-44, this weekend, and deliver a couple of roundies to an AK member. SO-- I am not really upset, I am glad that that monster has found a good home. As long as I get some GOOD pictures of the nside, and front, and such, and some shots of it WORKING, if that can be accomplished, I will be happy.

Hi Brian, I wish I could stop by but for now I am spending more than my limits.

Hi Jack S., Thanks for the info. There will be good photos and I will not stop until it is working perfectly.
