Is there anyone out there in AK land who owns a Europeian colour TV or is willing to admit to owning one as I do.

The following pictures are of my daily watcher that I use.

The set uses an Grundig (CUC 1822 chassis).

I rebuilt this set from an 1994 Siemens FS-275 M6 into an newer 1998 Grundig Atlanta 72 IDTV (ST 172 IDTV) cabinet as the old one was starting to disintergrate with age.

The first picture is what the set was before I rebuilt it.

The next 2 pictures are of the cabinet that I used for my project.

All the other pictures are of the set after the job was done...

I have an Europenanen tv, called "Telecolor 3007". Picture coming soon.

European TVs are very RARE over here because of the cost involved w/shipping them, the voltage issues, & of course, nobody in Europe-the EC-whatever-uses NTSC, so they really won't work over here. I've never heard of somebody getting one over here w/the CRT intact, either. Add to this the unavailability of parts, no service support, all thismeans that you REALLY have to want a European TV on this side of the pond.-Sandy G.

Hello Daro! I'm from Italy and of course I have many european tv sets. The one you are using is a really nice modern tv set.Too bad Grundig brand has been acquired by a turkish company: Only the name remained. It was one of the last few Germany manifacturers. I have many Grundig tv sets especially fron 70's and 80's. I understand the problem you have with shipment difficulties. I'm in love with old american color tv sets especially with zenith ones but getting them is extremely hard. I just received a nice rca color tv I bought , through ebay, in your country. It arrived seriously damaged despite the fact that package was done very carefully. Luckily it seems that picture tube is still intact but the plastic cabinet has several broken points... :sigh: How did you get your Grundig? Was this brand sold in your country? Do you know danish brand B&O? I think they sell their tvs in your country too. @SandyG. I saw an "Philips" color set (early '80's I think) that had N.T.S.C tuner too. Gush, how much I wish me an pre 1990 U.S.A. colour tv with wooden cabinet (those big models).

I've had a few Bang & Olufsen 29" swivel base table models (Hitachi CRT & chassis), and a '40s Ecko console round tube B&W (Great Britain). I worked on a multi-system Loewe 37" set not long ago. It belonged to an Iranian immigrant who bought it in Germany, he said. I also had a Sony 20" late 80s multi-system from Zimbabwe. It was shipped here by a missionary who thought it would work in the USA because it was multi-system and has NTSC... But it was NTSC 4.43 not 3.58 so no go. We used the CRT elsewhere and tossed the set after a failed run on eBay at $9.

Of all these, I liked the Bang & Olufsens best. Very tough to get the chassis out & apart for service :screwy: , but beautifully made. And the Hitachi chassis in my opinion is pretty reliable and easy to troubleshoot.

the chassis equipping our european B&O sets is original from B&O. Interesting the fact that in your country they were outsourced by Hitachi! We only had a line of sets (years ago) equipped with Thomson chassis.B&O original tvs are very reliable and easy to work with even if the circuitry is really sophisticated. We have many multistandard sets here. Every new tv sold here is capable of handling NTSC signal (via a/v socket). There are some who also have multistandard tuner and multivoltage power supply. Anyway almost every (even the cheap ones) vtr sold here is capable to play an ntsc tape and convert the output to a "simulated" ntsc.

I picked up a UK-standard TV about a year ago at our town RDF (recycling facility) that's basically intact (missing its plastic control door). It's a neat little set made by GEC; I haven't been able to test it, as I don't own a proper converter. So, for now, it's just fun to look at on the corner shelf of my work room :)

Most Europeian sets were sold here in Australia such as Loewe, Metz, Grundig, B&O & Thompson to name a few.

I work for a place that services Europiean TV's & thats how I got mine.

As for B&O I have worked on those as well over the years.

My "Sony" <<Trinitron>> 21FT2K from year 2000 alos haves N.T.S.C. 3.58/4.43 :naughty: on play-back :grumpy:
By the way, who the funk uses N.T.S.C. 4.43?
