Okay, it's happened more than once so I'm guessing it wasn't just a fluke.
When I'm watching the set, every now and then the picture and sound will just die. Sometimes there are a few random white lines flickering across the picture tube, sometimes not.
If I fiddle with the channel selector, the picture and sound come back. I'm not 100% convinced that the channel selector fixes the problem. If I were more patient, I'd just sit back and see if pic and sound come back on their own. They might, but I'm not that patient.
For a while there, I was also having some trouble with the volume control. From a pleasant level the sound would suddenly crank way up and I'd have to fiddle with the knob to get it back down again. I really don't think the two problems have anything to do with each other, but what do I know?
Any ideas? When the picture disappears, I think the tube stay lit, but I can't remember for certain. Not sure at all about what's happening in the picture tube.
