I passed up, several times, the chance to buy a very similiar Westinghouse. Probably the same basic set in a different cabinet, I think this one was a lighter wood & had doors. But it had the "Remote Director", still hanging there on the front, & the whole 9 yards (almost literally!) It sat around in a local antique mall for years but I just did not have the space to justify it. Hope somebody can take this one home. I often wonder what became of the other one.

shit.... It's about 20 miles from me. I need this like I need a hole in the head. However..... We ALL know how that goes. I'll keep an eye out on it, wish the starting bid was lower. Also, I it would be better if it were color.... (I'm already figuring out where to put it)

Naturally, you were the first person I thought of when I saw the location of the set. :)

I'm not far either, but I think I'll pass too for exactly the same reasons. :)

I will say that is one darn nice looking combo, though! What a great 60's-deluxe-gagety design.

I was tracking this on eBay, and see it ended at $655.00 Good God! Cool... yes Rare... probably, but $655.00 for a B&W???????? The only ones I see go for that are Prdicta's and I believe a few Panasonic "flying saucer" tv's. That thing is gonna be a bitch to move.

That price is wild...wonder if these mega-consoles are now starting to become fad items? they had been of pretty low appeal to the fashion/fad collectors who are paying outrageous sums for stuff.

Man, that's some hunk o' wood and electronics. But with today's apartments and smaller houses, who the heck has room for things this big anymore? Sometimes I even consider building a console for my stuff but I just don't have room, even in the basement:no:.

Wow! $655??? Usually, it's difficult to give these monsters away unless it's color! I don't find this one to be particularly attractive, however, it is kinda unique looking.

In a way, this can create a problem. Other sellers might see this, and think they're entertainment center is worth this much. They might stick a high starting price on a similar item.

What is 'remote director'?

I would guess it's just Westinghouse's name for their remote... like Zenith's Space Command remote. IMO, Space Command sounds much better!

Has me worried too. ebay Just ended, with-out sale, a 1949 deluxe home entertainment system by RCA. Model s-1000. I had one like it years ago, and wish I still did. It is a 1949 16" tv, am, fm, sw radio, 78 rpm record changer, and new to it, RCA's 45 rpm changer. And it used a scratch filter in the amplifier. Wish I had that pup back...... Anyone have one they want to drag on a trailor to st. Pete, Fl.?
