This is the remains of televisions that I have been pulling out of the building. Most of it is just really crap that should have been tossed long ago. It just became so crowded that he could no longer work. The repairman utilizes used parts for most of his repairs. The used parts come from what you see pictured here. 1/2 of this stuff was already there. The other 1/2 we just put out there in the last two weeks. He will be getting a dumpster soon to take it away. It may take a few loads to see it all gone. Code compliance is on his tail. I have pulled a few sets out of here. Nothing real stunning. The pile is about 8' deep and about 20 some feet long.

You know waht would be fun...........

Getting hold of a compactor truck, and stuffing the back hopper as full as possible, and then, runining the packer, and then, after it crushes them all into the truck, load it fuller next time... repea this, each time, with more tv's,until it would jam, and choke trying to pack those tv carcases.

OTOH.. are you SURE, there are no 1960's,(even early '70's) or older BW ,or color tv's, in that pile, that are salvageable, like the metal cabinet Zenith portbles,(or rca's), color and BW?(MOST of it looks like 80's to now ,worthless BPC junk-- peerfect to feed a garbage packer truck.)

P.S-- there are no old console stereos in the bunch, from 50-s to early 70's, are there? I like the amps from them(INCLUDING the early SS amps, that were built like Tube amps).

That back part where the pile is now was a building. It collapsed in the late 70's. That is where all the most of the tube stuff was. It was dumpstered during that time. I found about 10 rectangular tube color consoles. I think three are complete. All are in pretty sad shape. The oldest set is a 1960 traveller B/W console. I will be bring home 5 more roundies. In addition to the Sylvania I posted. CTC 15, CTC 16, Silvertone and two Zenith. The only complete chassis are the Sylvania and the CTC 15. All of the roundies are missing the CRT. I will post pictures of them soon. I found a few more complete tube portable B/W and color sets. I was surprised that I did not find any Zenith tube portable stuff. I had high hopes of helping Doug out. The only other RCA portable is a CTC 50.

RCA2000 there was no vintage stereo equipment.

It would be funny to see the garbage truck spew television parts!!!!


Another shop is closing down the street from this one. We are planning a raid later on in the week. :naughty:

Is this person related to R. C Windle of Athens, Texas (now deceased)? These pictures reminded me of of his shop and front yard. He operated the same way, salvaging TVs for parts and saving everything, including bad fuses and CRTs.

By the way, there were some Gems amongst it all, a Fada Bullet radio, a CTC 9 color set, and a Regency TR-100 radio amongst others. Do not give up!

I really do not think there will be a smoking gun in the pile. I have yet to see what is at the bottom of the pile outside.

I dug out a complete CTC 31. The cabinet is kind of rough but the set is complete. Sitting beside the CTC 31 was a nice B/W rectangular Zenith console. It did not have Space Command. I hit the GE portacolor jack pot. I found three sitting together in the mess. One is solid state. I will have to save that one. The other two are early portacolors. That is 4 total for the portacolors. I have the CTC 16 and the portacolors on the back of the truck right now. I hope it does not rain tonight. :worried:

The raid on the closing TV shop down the street is planned for Friday. :naughty:

Got some I've been trying to get rid of. An RCA Ortophonic table model from the 50s and one or two portables, nothing special. All piled up in the shed with a bunch of reel-to-reels and other stuff, its all gotta go...

No record players in the mess. Only one 70's ugly huge solid state console. YUCKO!

If it is an RCA, or a Zenith, with a nice, big amp, with big sinks in the botom, I would be DEFINITELY interested in the amp. see if you can find the model # and brand, and if it is a Zenith, magnavox, sylvania, westinghouse,or rca, pre-75, it MAY be what I would want.

I will look tomorrow. I do not believe it is a big brand name system. It looked really cheap. Gotta love the red velvet speaker covers on it. :worried:
