The seller didn't list much info, and the pix is kind of lousy, but it looks like an older model. I can't tell from the control lay-out but is this set tube or solid-state? "RVB" looks like a common RCA nomeclature, I see it on lots of models. Does it refer to the run #, maybe stands for 'revision B'? just a guess. You can almost see, on the inner right panel at bottom, the little 2-color emblem (2 blocks) that RCA used. But I don't think I've ever seen one like this.

That's the model number. Indicates what style cabinet, and such. You'd have to remove the back to find the CTC chassis number (which is more meaningful to us types). Don't you just hate the fake drawers TV sets like this always have? Or did Quasar use them for the "works in a drawer"? Today they could hide a DVD player in one of those drawers.

thats a unique set. Cant find any info on it in my rca field service guides. The newest one I have is 1973-74 sets and this model is not listed. If you didnt know, the field service guides gives you an up-to-date list of color TVs from the very first to present. This set must be 1975 then, but it doesnt look like it. I always thought RCA followed the two letters followed by 3 numbers and then a suffix letter like "JR956W" I dont know when RCA changed there model number sequence. I dont know enough about them. Im going to email the seller and ask for more information including a chassis number if he would be willing to take the back off and for the heck of it see if this is a tube set.
He indicates "no remote". Wonder if that means its a remote set with a missing remote?

That set doesn't look much newer than about 1970. If it were newer I'd think the tube would be squarer, a la XL-100. I'd also think the tube size would start off the model number, as in 23JR956W. I can't figure out what's between the screen and the knobs, but as Bryan said, the little square at the bottom of that column does sort of suggest the red and blue RCA color logo.

I have the field service guides through 1980 and there is no ref to that number. The seller said it was the cat (catalogue?) number. Take the tv out and the cabinet looks like the mid 80's cabinets used by philips for the magnavox, quasar, and philco lines. In fact take the tv and the louvers out and it is identical to my 84 magnavox cabinet with the fake drawers and the style of the legs and columns on the side. Looks like the tv just doesn't belong in that cabinet.

emailed the seller and he took the back off and found out its a CTC-44 which makes this set 1971-1972. The 44 is 100% solid state chassis

cool. I wondered if it was an early solid state chassis. I had an old CTC-41 at one time, which was I think the first XL 100 chassis. The sellers picture wasn't very good tho and the control lay-out didn't look like an RCA, altho you can barely make out the 2 little color squares on the tilt out drawer. (which by the way mine was a pain in the ass> If you even looked at that drawer a control would go out of whack)

Dangit! I have wanted a ctc 44 for a while now. BUT, that is just too darn far to drive to get one. I have a ctc 47(G2000) a ctc 40, (or more than one), but the 44 is harder to find. It was only made for a couple of years.
