I bought this because RCA and Zenith Televisions are hard to come by here. It is a 12A12C52. It is a Tube and transistor set. It has a nice bright B/W picture. They are also hard to turn down when they are cheap at a thrift store. :D I am going to test the tubes in the next few days. This set will be on the back burner. I have other projects to tackle.

Man, except for the cabinet, it looks like the same set I still have in the basement. Mine has the 23 inch picture tube and you'll find the convergence controls behind the speaker. It was our first color TV, we got in it early 1971 although I've seen it in an ad in the November 1970 issue of National Geographic. Everything is the same as my TV, speaker, knobs, door under the speaker an so on. IIRC, it has the Titan 100 chassis. I think yours is a same or similar vintage.

I just lurk here, would like to try repairing old TV's sometime (I'm into radios for the most part and hold an amateur radio license) so I do find the talk interesting.

Right now, our main TV is a 1982 Zenith, we've been watching it since 1983.

I had one with the same knobs on it too, mine was a model with legs. It had a great picture. I have a photo of it somewhere but I haven't been able to locate it. Its of my friend playing Atari 2600.

I saw your post and felt I had to reply. I too have an amateur radio license (my call sign appears after my name in my signature) and have been in the hobby since 1972. I had a very good station setup for years at my former home in a Cleveland suburb, but about five years ago I moved to an apartment and got rid of most of the old gear (including my original Novice/Tech Plus setup, a Hallicrafters SX101 receiver and Heathkit DX40 transmitter with VF-1 VFO, and also a Kenwood TS-530S I had in standby service and my packet installation--no room in my apartment for all that equipment). However, I kept my Icom IC725 all-band solid-state rig and MFJ-405 electronic keyer. It is on an old computer desk in my bedroom, but doesn't get much use even though I bought a Barker and Williamson AP-10A 40-10m apartment portable antenna (with the adjustable tap on the loading coil). For some reason, I can't get the thing to work for any kind of distance (the furthest I've been able to work so far is only 15 miles on 40 meters), although my transceiver loads into the antenna just fine.

I also mainly lurk in these forums, although if I find an opportunity to help someone here or if I have questions about the topic under discussion in a given thread, I will not hesitate to post a reply. I've been a member here almost two years and enjoy it immensely, but then again if I didn't I would not be here. I've had electronics and radio as a hobby since I was eight years old (I'm 48 now), and been a ham since the age of 16 in 1972. Wouldn't give up ham radio for anything (that's why I bought the AP-10A indoor all-band antenna for my ham rig--at least it gets me on the air, although it doesn't work anywhere nearly as well as the 70-foot all-band dipole I had at my former home)--it's too great a hobby, and I enjoy it far too much. I'd miss it something awful if I were to let my license expire (I just renewed it for another ten years).

BTW, I am a member of the Lake County (Ohio) Amateur Radio Association and use their repeater (N8BC, 147.81-21) occasionally, especially on Thursday nights at 7:00 (19:00 UTC) when they have their weekly roundtable. I am also a member of ARRL.

Replaced a 6Z10 and a 6KT8. This is what I got off an antenna!! :banana: I will have to borrow a degaussing coil tomorrow. It is always good to get an easy fix like this.

I was a Army Recruiter in the Mentor Recruiting station from 1993-96. I do not miss the winters in Lake County. BBBBRRRRR! :worried:

degauss that crt/ touch up the purity and you got a good set.
looks close to my grandparents first color set which i now own.
