Someone on FB marketplace has an old radio for sale. Says it's a Studebaker. I doubt it...

View Full Version : Studebaker Radio?.. Hawkwind 03-09-2024, 10:12 PM Someone on FB marketplace has an old radio for sale. Says it's a Studebaker. Eh, close enough. https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/stewart_wa_01_8b7.html https://www.radiomuseum.org/images/radio/stewart_warner_corp/01_8b7_ch_01_8b_715204.jpg vortalexfan 03-25-2024, 06:49 PM I saw that radio too on FB Marketplace, I thought about grabbing it (its about an hour from me) but then I saw the price they wanted for it (they wanted almost $400) and I passed on it. I'm not sure how they got Studebaker from Stewart Warner... old_coot88 03-25-2024, 08:49 PM Sometimes it's hard to tell rutabaga from Studebaker, phonetically:headscrat vortalexfan 03-26-2024, 01:53 PM Interesting fun factoid: The Studebaker Brothers who started the Studebaker company were German Baptist Brethren (now called Church of the Brethren, or Covenant Brethren depending on which branch you belong to since the 2019 split in the church) and because of that they were pascifists and unfortunately that was what lead to them leaving the company because the other branch of their family that was involved in the company were Methodists and didn't care much about the GBB Church's peace stance and cared more about the money and the fact that they could make money manufacturing wagons and other equipment for the Civil War, which lead to the Studebaker Brothers departure from the Studebaker Company. toxcrusadr 06-11-2024, 12:29 PM Curious which side were they making wagons for? I don't have a Studebaker but I had the pleasure of restoring the radio from a seafoam green '52 Commander V8 that belonged to a friend of mine. He'd take it to car shows and had the radio playing and everyone thought he'd had a conversion kit installed but it was all original (except for the caps!). |
