View Full Version : Sams Photofacts index (Sim. to Ch.) meaning?

In cross-referencing Photofact folder numbers to TV model numbers, I see a number of notations, and this one isn't quite clear to me:

(Sim. to Ch.)

It seems to be referring that model to something else, "Similar to Ch?"

If Sim = Similar, then what is Ch?

I know many here have long used Sams Photofacts, so hopefully it's obvious to someone.

Using index at

Thanks always!

It means it is NOT the exact chassis but almost so.
You can almost always use it for the repair but watch for differences.
These look like Zeniths & it was about the time they switched to System 3
styled chassii from the old CC2 chassis. The lowest numbers are
usually left overs. So you need a chassis number or photo of
chassis to ID it.
BTW dont buy from Sams, too much $$. Try hear 1st.

Ah, so Sim. to Ch. means Similar to Chassis...got it, thank you!!!!

Thanks, Zeno, you are the one who helped me identify this TV Model number last year at

https://www.videokarma.org/showthread.php?p=3243725#post3243725

And I appreciate the offer for Sams resources.

Last year, I bought this Sams #1981 off eBay for $7 free shipping

https://www.ebay.com/itm/183896492504

For future reference, is that similar to a deal that you would offer?

I didn't think Sams still sold them that old anyway.

I'll be searching for more similar-vintage TVs, and getting the sams folder is my first priority after identifying the model number.

Thanks!

Best,
AJ

Sam's will sell you service data going back to the late 40s (I bought some that old from their site years ago). But much of the sites data is poor photocopies. If you can find original paper it'll be 1/5 the price and MUCH easier to read.
