I think they were used in Sun engine analyzers and some oscilloscopes, but I don't know how common they are. At least their non-controlled heaters haven't been repeatedly flashed in a series string TV arrangement like most of their 7JP4 siblings. In the YT video of the Jan Zoom meeting during the Open Bar discussion it is mentioned that a stash of CRTs, including several 7JP4 had been donated to the Museum from the estate of a defunct collector and needed pickup.
