Hello all, i got a 1980 Quasar 25 inch console tv model number TU9924SS with chassis ADTS976FA03 and when you turn it on the set works for a second or two and then shuts off. What could be the problem? Thanks!

Probably HV shut down ( HVSD) is getting triggered. Some reasons are
1) the HVSD circuit is bad
2) too much HV
3) heavy load on Horz out or HV.
Its probably a Panasonic chassis & they were known for bad flybacks.
What do you have for test equipment ?? You need at least a good
meter & a variac ( or dim bulb set up ) unless you get real lucky.
BTW do you hear sound before it shuts down ?

You can try this BUT there is a risk to the TV !:tears:

Turn the TV back on after shut down. Do that 4 or 5 times then unplug it,
find the horz output transistor & see if it got hot. If it
did its most likely the HV transformer is bad.
After that to go further you need a manual.
