View Full Version : Is this magnavox worth saving? pac.attack76 08-20-2022, 12:35 PM I was contacted last night by someone that lves down the street from where this is sitting and they said it's been out there a week. It has rained during that time. damen 08-20-2022, 08:02 PM cabinet looks like it's about to come apart. Chassis issues were flybacks and tuner problems. When working they got great pictures. pac.attack76 08-20-2022, 08:37 PM It'll probably hold together to move it but it'll never look good left that way. If it was worth saving, I could go as far as to build a new cabinet staining it in similar color. I'm just wondering if it's worth getting. pac.attack76 08-21-2022, 10:18 AM Ah well I guess that's out. Several storm went through last night and more on the way today. Ik it's soaked rn. zeno 08-21-2022, 03:52 PM Pull the chassis for parts. Its a common mid end set. NOTHING special about it. OH the chassis is worth zero $$ & if you took the whole set he would owe YOU money ! 73 Zeno:smoke: LFOD ! pac.attack76 08-21-2022, 03:54 PM Ahh ok 👍😂 Electronic M 08-22-2022, 12:15 AM Rain won't harm electronics (assuming they were okay before wet, and allowed to dry a couple of weeks before plugging in), rain can harm cosmetics particularly on wood sets. There are are enough tube signal chain sets out there that are actually worth something that I can't see why someone would bother with this, but if it's worth it to you that's all that matters...If it isn't join the club. pac.attack76 08-22-2022, 09:36 AM Yeah, I'm not gonna bother with it. Hopefully something better will come along. radiotvnut 08-24-2022, 12:32 AM Looks like a 25N1 chassis or the one just before it (25S1, maybe?). I replaced lots of HOTs, regulators, vertical ICs, and soldered lots of bad connections in the N1 sets. Pretty much the same for the previous chassis, except the previous chassis used a larger tuner that used an IC that was a common failure part. A couple of years ago, I saw a nice one at an estate sale that I could have probably gotten for free, but those sets are too new for me and I didn't have a place to put it. |
