I am looking for old crt gun mounts. Looking for all colors especially the dark brown ones. I know there are boxes of them out there sitting on someone’s shelf.

Are you taking about the socket that the end of the gun electrically plugs into, or some of the hardware that wraps around the neck?

It's also important to have the type number of the CRT* and information about the era it was made. There were MANY different gun base/socket styles and gun/neck diameters over the roughly 70 years CRT TVs were prevalent.

There's usually a type number on a sticker on the tube. The number will typically be (assuming it's not a European market tube) 1-3 numerical digits 2-4 letters and 1-2 more digits. It'll end in P4 if it's a monochrome tube, P22 if color (or B22 on some BPC sets). For example 10BP4 or 25AP22.

I have some from Corning. They are the colored borosilicate glass mounts on the gun. Hence the name gun mount.

Okay...But why? Are you rebuilding CRTs or making new ones?

I am a glassblower. I use the glass in my work. Certain colors are amazing for glasswork.

With all due respect to your hobby (which I think is totally cool) your not likely to find anyone willing to give up parts that could be used to rebuild picture tubes, since they aren't making them anymore.

You could try TV recyclers. They put CRT's into a machine & before
grinding up the glass they use a big magnet to pull the shadow glass
& guns out. Money would talk with them. Also look into Corning. Almost every
US CRT used there CRT bells. They may have distributors that can sell you
the type of glass you want in small quantity.

Corning actually stopped making them when the Chinese outpriced them. Also the us stopped using crt televisions so Corning no longer produces gunmounts.

I understand what you are saying. But when the factory stopped making them. The employees took boxes and boxes home. Then Corning scrapped the rest. The local dump was full of them According to glassblower lore. Lol.

Either way if anyone has any. I’m buying boxes for $50-100 depending on the color

They actually did make them at the fallbrook plant. I know a guy that has the original molds for them

And some pipes I made with murrine images I made.

Wow!!! I'm not kidding, you have a real artistic talent with that !!!!

Especially the pipes with all of the little images in them, truly awesome! I have always believed glass is best for toking, when rolled into a joint there is the burnt paper and I've never trusted metal of any kind for a pipe.

I purchased some boxes of Corning gunmounts last month and I have been trying to figure out where they came from.
They were found in upstate Ny so I assumed someone got them directly from Corning when they stopped producing them.


Most of the boxes were the original packaging from Corning. But the last box was labeled different so someone must have grabbed a box that was handy.

It was labeled to GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY

So I figure these probably came from this GE plant in upstate Ny.
I assume they assembled crt guns here??
