Now on YouTube.
The story of the color tv picture tube.
Film was made in the late 1970s, to see the in-line picture tube.
Commissioned by Philips The Netherlands.

From the early 90's.
A Chinese picture tube manufacturer wanted to purchase two glass presses from a company in Bainbridge, GA. called Lynch Machinery.
https://www.glassonline.com/lynch-machinery-speedy-press-delivery-to-china/
But they didn't have a way to get them back to China. So they enlisted the aid of the Russians. The Russians had a jet that was large enough to carry the glass presses and land on a short runway like they had in China.
So the Russians flew the Antonov jet into the Atlanta airport and picked up the glass presses.
This was shortly after Glasnost and Peristroika, otherwise the jet wouldn't be allowed in US air space.
It was an exciting day at Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport when the Antonov landed and workers got their first glimpse of a Russian made jet!

The film was excellent, didn't know that much went into making the color CRT.
