The General Electric 4ST16A- is a professional / broadcast model of 'color bar and cross hatch' video generator.

It's all vacuum tubes, 28 of them, and somewhat more complex than nearly all tubed 'TV shop' generators, so it will be an enlightening and fun read.

First time I've seen that GE color generator. Interesting choice of color bar patterns and solution for providing all the weird demodulator phases being designed into receivers at the time.
