I should have the DXer's obituary somewhere... That channel 2 slide is a Rorschach test for TV collectors.... looking at it carefully I see a glass of alcohol, but the first thing I saw was a pre-War CRT envelope from the side (some post war Dumonts used the same CRT envelope shape too)...After wondering for a moment why a station would display a pre-War CRT in an on air imagine in the late 50s I then realized it was really a Beveridge. BTW IIRC in the beginning of the thread you mentioned needing to get these images off your computer...If you are seriously trying to use this website as a storage drive I'd advise against it. VK has had issues where all photos stored were lost before. No harm in sharing, but if you want to help ensure you don't loose your data back it up on another drive maybe even get a security deposit box for it. kramden66 06-08-2021, 05:13 PM too bad our vintage/antique tv sets couldn't pull in these signals from back then , i'd have an excuse to watch live tv again. these are great , any more ? too bad i never thought of taking pics of tv dx Dude111 06-08-2021, 05:27 PM Gracious everyone :) Hawkwind 06-09-2021, 03:06 PM Sorry, that's the end of old DX photos. There were negatives with no prints but when I asked the owner of the pictures if I could scan them he yelled, NO! This was in Massachusetts. Everybody yells at everybody there... init4fun 06-09-2021, 04:09 PM This was in Massachusetts. Everybody yells at everybody there... :D Hey, we don't always yell, sometimes one finger can say more than a mouthful of words can :finger: zeno 06-11-2021, 03:43 PM As for Mass I have no regrets for leaving. My fathers side went back to 1635 in Cambridge, Concord then Acton. Ran a tavern during the rev war & that evolved into the first department store in the US. https://www.ironworkfarm.org/ https://www.exchangehall.com/history/ I gave up on that line 15 yrs ago, that was hard being on the same land for 300 years. Anyhows it just dont make sense what these people did for freedom & now most Mass people want socialism & all out communism ! In N.H. Mass folk are known as Massholes. But I point out to them Robin Hood. He takes from the rich & gives to the poor. Massholes are rich & N.H. folk are poor. 73 Zeno:smoke: LFOD ! Hawkwind 06-15-2021, 03:53 PM What got me was, I'm in the right lane doing the speed limit on either 495 or 128 and it's "Me" that has yield to oncoming traffic. Recent TV DX here in Largo, Florida USA. To Gainesville 123 miles. Channel 9 is WNBW. Was never analog... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WNBW-DT Hawkwind 06-15-2021, 04:32 PM Back in the early zero's I was living in Massachusetts between Boston and Providence. One morning a tropo opening to Philadelphia, Baltimore and Salisbury Maryland was going on. I fed the roof antenna into a Sony VCR that displays XDS and then into a Sony Wega that does XDS also... DavGoodlin 06-15-2021, 05:40 PM Great catches and how was NYC? Connecticut? I bet were they "leapfrogged" by the others you got! WTXF-29 ran higher power analog or you may have pulled in WPHL-17 that day. Now on DT-31, weak here. WPHL DT-17, (and now WCAU-10 on DT-28) since 2009 has been the strongest digital and most likely to be Dx'd from Phl. WBOC-16 and WMDT-47 both from Salisbury Md, back in analog days were Dx'ed here but not very often, over 120 miles north. Hawkwind 06-15-2021, 06:23 PM I remember when WIBF/WTAF went 5 million watts. They made a ceremony out of it with mayor Frank Rizzo. Engineers from WFLN drove me past 29's transmitter and said the whole building was the transmitter. Saw in Elkton Maryland an increase of picture quality. Good times... |
