Found one today at Kutztown. WHE5254VY model. Late production. It powered up looking sad. Simple adjustments brought it back to tolerable and cooking it got the CRT back to focus and convergence looking pretty good for what it is. DC restoration is the usual garbage. Grey scale is going to be ok. I think Tim had some DC solutions but they seem to be missing from the site. Problem is the tint inside the chroma gain. Centered, it is close normal but green is weak. Move either side and green goes away totally.

If a schematic is online, I could use it to just find some chroma circuit tubes tomorrow to get a leg up. Will open later for chart if needed. I still want to cook it for now.

I haven't seen one of these since I was in my 20s. My recollection is that these were horrible performers even when new, and we wouldn't take any on trade. The grey scale would change with scene content (not brightness or contrast) and would sometimes have grey scale shifts *within* the frame, ie the top and bottom might be red and the middle green - sort of like bad purity but it would shift constantly with scene content. AGC action was odd and contrast would also change with black level, like the old TVs without keyed AGC. These were one of those models where the later replacement solid state units totally transformed the TV.
