Rather mundane question for you TV mavens, but...

I have a Panasonic Omnivision TV/VCR combo, PV-M2037, that we used to use as one of our main sets, but I had not powered it up in several years.

Yesterday, when I plugged it in and turned it on, it started autoscanning for OTA stations, and now when I press the channel up/down arrows on the front of the cabinet, it will only tune to Channel 60 or "line in." It will still receive stations via a DTV converter box and antenna, but picture is unwatchable, too snowy. It probably needs to be set on channel 2 or 3, to get a clear picture, but I don't know how to do this without the TV remote, which I don't have. If I keep it, is it worth investing in a universal remote, will that help?

Thanks in advance!

With a universal remote you may not be able to set up the
channels but you should be able to random access any channel with
the 0-9 keys. In other words press 03 & goto ch 3.
A good universal remote is good to have anyways if you mess with this stuff....

Can you use A/V cables to connect the converter to line in? It's the preferred connection anyway and will give you a better picture than the modulated channel 3 output.

If you have to use channel 3,unplug the set for several hours/days and turn the converter on before you plug in the TV and it will auto scan channel 3 into it's memory.
