2k$ is nuts...A couple years ago one in that shape went for near 1/10th of that at the Radiofest auction. Aren't these normally around $ 500 in open sales?

I think they were going for as high as $1200 years ago. I got one years ago for $650 in very good condition. I think everything has dropped in price in the last couple of years.

All of Don's prices seem high. The same sets get relisted year after year. You can see by his feedback how few of his TVs actually sell.

Nowadays you'll be lucky to get $350 for the Scott.
The Andrea is an amazing example, but yes, the price is a "I don't really want to sell it" price. The same with the Andrea. You might get action at a bit less than half that price. Don is a great guy to deal with though and his packing is above and beyond what one could hope for.

Is $10,000 doable because it's a pre-war Andrea, or because it was a kit?

I do know that unbuilt Heathkits often bring stupid money yet professionally assembled ones bring relatively little.

I would think if this was an unbuilt kit it would be far more interesting.

I'm surprised about that. Don obviously feels it's a very special example and I have to agree. That's a "one of a kind" find. I doubt you would ever find one unbuilt, or one with all the extra's. I personally like the model with full art-deco cabinet. One of the best pre-war tabletops with an audio section.

OK. I see he added "Make Offer" to the listing. He needs to proofread his ad copy better. He says up top that is is a local pickup only. In the body of his text he again says local pickup only. He then goes into how he will pack the chassis and CRT for shipping.
