Here’s a little 9” portable I have. It’s very cute, being just a Small box with pop-up controls. It has vertical issues, and horizontal won’t lock. I have to imagine it’s the handful of the black plastic paper Radial type electrolytics that are all leaking. I can’t find any info on this set, except for a couple or so videos on Youtube. When I got it, I was expecting it to have a tube for the HV rectifier, but it doesn’t, it’s 100% solid state which is pretty good for 1967 I guess.

When I was a kid, I had a more conventional version of this TV, although I seem to recall mine had a tube rectifier... :scratch2: It also might have been a 12" and not a 9".. :scratch2:

Anyway, it had as I recall :scratch2: four video IFs, and was a spectacular performer. I also seem to recall it was all germanium :scratch2:. That was a long time ago...

Originally I used it on our family's antenna and later on cable (no box), and it was a joy to watch, even in B&W.

It's life ended when my brother tripped on the AC cord or cable TV connection and the little 9" hit the floor and shattered. It still ran and I used it for a little while with the picture tube hanging out but I picked up a 17" (rare) Zenith Chromacolor Solid State TV that was a theft recovery - and it also had a broken cabinet. Since the Zenith was only a year or so old, I was able to order a new front and back cabinet from our Zenith distributor.

Edit: it looked like this only it was black. The TV in this picture is a 12". I don't know if mine was a 9" or a 12".."

KCS-157 is a chassis number. The model number should be something like AJ005B, AJ009E/Y. From Sam's Photofact 907-2.
