So I am a collector of all things zenith. Grew up with an older zenith set, and like them a lot. Ran into this chromacolor ii set from about 1975 and really like it a lot. I ran it for about two hours, somewhat stupidly. I have heard of caps going bad, but overall have had good luck with 70s zenith stuff working well without restoration.
It had a good picture, and everything worked correctly, but then it just shut off with no warning and wont come back on, no burnt smells or acting weird before it quit. :tears:
My question is, what is the likelyhood of it being repairable? I am willing to put some work into this set, and have some electronics background, I have re-capped old radios before. Would anyone be willing to help me with a list of things to check on it? From what I have seen of the chassis, it is pretty simple.
Idealy I would like to get it running again, and replace all questionable capacitors and parts that it would need to run reliably. I think the local tv shop close to me no longer accepts work on older sets.
