Thanks! Popester 09-14-2019, 11:02 PM You could make what we in tv repair called a suicide cord. The top 2 terminals are your AC connection and the bottom 2 would be for DC although I don't know what the polarity of the bottom ones are for DC. I believe it's 12 DC. Anyway you could make one by soldering alligator clip leads to a known power cord. You would want them insulated with rubber coverings. You would hook them up to the leads and make sure they aren't touching each other or the chassis before you plug in the power cord, but at least that would get you a working cord until you could find an actual one on CL or EBay. duesy 09-15-2019, 02:30 PM Thanks for the tip. The procedure is aptly named! Think I'll hold out for a proper cord. Sandy G 09-15-2019, 04:59 PM Sony used those sorta Oddball cords for a LONG time.. KentTeffeteller 09-16-2019, 08:00 AM And in a lot of Sony equipment. They're findable occasionally. duesy 09-16-2019, 08:14 AM Is there a part number associated with this cord? Electronic M 09-16-2019, 08:48 AM Be careful with any cord you find. Sony used that style plug on other stuff and IIRC fiddled with the pinout...if you try some random cord that puts 120V onto the 12V pins that set will fry...you should be able to confirm pinout of a cable with a DMM in ohms mode. Sandy G 09-16-2019, 02:13 PM Yeah, Sony was STILL using them as late as 1969, cause my CRF-230 AM/FM/SW radio uses one, & I whined & wheedled Santa Claus into one that year... |
