I picked this up today. I'm not sure the exact model, it has a 16D21Q chassis. Looks like it came on the market in 1959 and this particular model seems like it was built in 1960. Looks complete and it's in decent shape under the cobwebs. The remote control isn't in very good condition, but it's there. I think the design where it clips onto the Zenith shield on the front is pretty neat.

Guy was really nice, he said it belonged to his parents when he was a kid. He was moving and wanted to get rid of it. I'm glad I reached out when I did, he was going to take it to the Goodwill the next day, so it'd likely have been shipped to China and destroyed.

Inside is nasty. Looks like potato bugs made their home in the bottom of the cabinet, and there's a big thing of crumbling tinfoil? It doesn't seem like a rodent nest to me, because it's not shredded -- it's all in one piece, just falling apart from age. I'm not going to attempt to power it on until I can remove the chassis and clean all that up.

I've worked on various electronics, but this will be my first TV. If anyone has tips or suggestions, I'd definitely love to hear them.

Does someone have the SAMS for this? Looks like set 467, folder 2. Radiomuseum has them, but you have to download pages individually and ratelimits you aggressively.

Change all the paper caps and electrolytics, lube the tuner motor, and you'll probably have most of it working good...It might even work if given a variac powerup as is.

That is one of my favorite Zeniths of all time. Congratulations. You see remotes like that one in pretty good condition on eBay all the time, sometimes for crazy prices, sometimes not. That said there's not really anything to go wrong inside so it'll probably work fine.

I may have the sams but since I'll be heading to the ETF meet in Ohio tomorrow I'm not going to be able to help you till next week... I suspect most folks here that have Sam's will be there too.

These sets are the best B&W's ever made. If it has a good CRT ( most do ) it
will come out very good. I have never seen a set with so much livestock in
it. A good vacuuming will take care of that !
Tin foil is either an exploded cap or the dag coating from the CRT, cant tell from pixs.
A hint. When you pull the chassis the CRT is attached to it & they come out
together. There are bolts coming up from the bottom & four 1/4 inch screws
at the corners of the CRT. Tuners, remote chassis, etc come out separately.
