I just acquired this TV. It is kinda interesting. It is a 1949 Silvertone 12" TV. Catalog number #9121, chassis number is 101.867. It uses a 12LP4 CRT. Insides are real dirty from dust, but looks like no rust and seems to be all there. It uses push button tuning. Whatta think?

Looks a lot like Philco parts.

I've never seen that cabinet variation of that set before.

If I'm not mistaken that is a Colonial radio made set.

No kidding!... only way it would be more of a coincidence is if you or me found one.

The more I look at this TV the more I like it. The chassis will clean up real nice.

I got this TV at a local auction. It was in all the stuff that is a like a pre-sale. The stuff isn't listed in the Auction listing and the pre-sale stuff usually consists of chassis, cabinets, basket cases, junk, etc. I was the only bidder and I thought that I'd get the TV for the 12LP4 CRT and junk the rest.

Then I started to look at it closer later that day and I started to like what I saw. This TV will make a great restoration series.

BTW, the 12LP4 tested very good on my BK 467!

If you need a 12LP4 I'd gladly trade my good spare for that set...I'd also sell that CRT (it is listed in the ETF swap thread right now).

Very nice find! I've never seen that particular model before. I love '40's TV's that have those quirky design touches. It makes them look so primitive. The chassis resto will likely be a challenge as it probably has a large number of caps to replace. Good luck with it!

Sure a lot of iron in the power xfmr. Is it 25 cycle? If so, it'll be super happy on 60 cycle.

Nope - 60Hz with two 5U4 rectifiers in parallel. Consumes 290 watts! Here's a shot of my very similar 8132 chassis. They are built like tanks :yes:

Yes, it does have 2 5U4 tubes. Yeah it weighs a lot too. My back is just recovering from getting it out of the car and into the storage unit.

I have one with a 10BP4. Good performers! Lots of capacitors, as mentioned. Very odd tuner, indeed. I use mine and feed it with an agile modulator! Very good focus! Fun set!
