I have a Knight 83Y-124 "RC" bridge type capacitance/resistance measuring unit with DC outputs for real world leakage testing with a "magic eye" as the visual indicator. These kit(or similar by Heathkit, Eico. Solar) units are making a pretty big comeback on benches these days as prices are ever escalating on praybay.

I can't imagine my home bench without one and I have several. This Knight unit came to me in mint condition as if it were never used. However no function on it worked other than the power supply bringing the "magic eye" to green life. It turns out that the kit builder, or rather the company supplying the parts clocked the wafer function switch wrong on only one of the two wafers if memory serves me correctly. The troubleshooting was a number of months ago and I just set it to the side having a good and more versatile Heathkit IT-28 as my bench's mainstay.

So I am hoping someone here has a digital copy of the build manual. A Web search gave me nothing but Bama's version that utilizes some oddball file type. The older units like this are pretty simple in design and the Knight is almost a duplicate of a Heathkit C3, so I could probably do the work without the schematic, but having one is always nice. I would like to get the new looking unit back up to snuff.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No luck so far on a manual... Nice checker, I always thought that the Knight kits looked more "finished" with the nice hood over the eye tube.

Wow! Thanks a mill guys for both of those! Exactly what I need! And I agree that the Knight is a much more "finished" or to me higher quality look than the Heathkit C3 in particular. Of all of this type of condenser checking units I think the Solars' with the two exposed tubes are the coolest looking. I don't know why, but I have always liked seeing and even smelling tubes do their work. I know "smelling???" Go figure....
