I've been watching a lot of VHS tape lately, and I remember reading once that Zenith made a variant of the 9-57 horizontal module which would fit in my 'flat chassis' solid state set and was supposed to eliminate that issue with the picture bending at the top of the screen. Does such a thing really exist? And if it does, anyone know the model # so I can start looking out for one?

They called it a VCR-57. It was a newer generation 9-90, sistered to a 9-57 blank. I don't remember if it was perfect, but it was a great improvement over the original. :thmbsp:

blank 9-57 board. They did work good, we put in abt a dozen
of them in the lates 70's.
I have been watching for one to reverse engineer it but no luck in
2 yrs. If anyone has one please give the details. The pin-out
should be no problem but I dont know if any changes were made to the
board itself or if the 9-90-03 was even used in a TV. This board
probably has a hoz hold pot on the board unlike the common 9-90 & an
eight pinned IC IIRC. Been to long...........

That's what I remember, as well. It had the IC and the pot.
I was thinking about the horiz board, used in the "H" models.
I really don't remember the "G" series chassis having that board. :scratch2:

The delta sets used plain 9-90 there was a 9-90 01 that
may have been for late deltas. The EFL sets & 13GC10
used the pot on board prob the -02 & -03. Someone has
the CRSP for modules that will answer the question.
35 yrs ago I could have rattled all this off along with the
list prices. A mind is a terrible thing to loose.....
