I have a RCA SelectaVision SGT-200 stereo player, I could say I "restored" it about 6 months ago, but all I really did was replace the stylus and shrink the belts. It plays great no matter what you call it.

Interested in selling? Dude111 is in need of one. I have the SJT-090. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Got nearly 100 discs for it. I told him I'd find him one eventually.

I would be interested in selling or trading. It is very interesting technology but not something I want to collect.

I have been holding out for $275. That may sound high, but consider for this model it would cost about $100 to get a broken or "AS IS" online, $50 stylus, and that is a risk. This one works great, and I will re-shrink the belts or replace them with new belts if you prefer and the stylus is low mileage in this one. It was new old stock when I bought it and I have played no more then 20 movies on it, I mostly just played a little of the disks I have to see if they worked. I would also be willing to travel a little to help save you on shipping, I'm about 20 miles south of Charlottesville VA. I will also include Alien, M.A.S.H. and Red Foxx. Even more if you want, but those three are the only ones that play very well.

It is stereo, but I have heard of people using a mono stylus in them. I don't remember if poltergeist is stereo or not on CED, but I know the VHS and Laserdisc have a great stereo soundtrack, maybe too separated at parts I remember in one scene there is a back-ho that can only be heard on the left. There are some other good stereo disks too like Rocky 3, Under Fire, Moscow on the Hudson, War Games, Rambo, Star Wars Trilogy, the list goes on.

I'll admit those SJT players like pac has are some snazzy machines with the way they load the disk, but of course mono and I think the earlier SJT models lacked composite video as well.

Using a MONO stylus sounds interesting... I have heard of using a MONO one on a record player so why not right?

Yes Poltergeist is Stereo on the Videodisc (Straight analogue) while on VHS it has been digitally processed which is sad....... (Sounds disgusting in analog (thin)) and they have the nerve to put "PRESENTED IN ITS ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE VERSION" on the tape case!!!

There is supposed to be 1 version (1ST RELEASE) that is straight analog but I have only seen it one time and havent since...... (I tried to bid on it but lost the auction :()

I really just wanted to show people that I got that disc working, but thought you may like to see it if you are considering buying/trading. All my movies were bought in lots from people who didn't own a player.

I agree on the original analogue audio, you can almost tell in that video the Paradigm's were loving it. I have a lot of early 80's laserdiscs with untouched analogue that sound amazing as well.

I think I am going to go ahead and re shrink the belts (if I do one might as well do both) because visual search forward starts to slip, works fine in reverse and rapid access works fine in both directions. I may try to raise the turntable just a touch as well and that may help with the speckles.

You can hear my wife in the background. I listened for that before posting the video and didn't hear it. Oh well, I don't really care if the world knows her student loans got a little screwed when I registered my business.

Pac, I seem to have stolen your thread for my own venture, lol. Sorry about that, just got excited to possibly find this player a good home.

A needle change will NOT affect stereo/mono operation in a stereo machine. The "audio (mono and stereo)" and "video" at the stylus are in the form of modulated RF carriers. The circuits in a mono unit simply ignore/ are unable to do anything with the stereo carrier where as a stereo player has the extra circuits for the stereo carrier. It's completely analog though so dude's analog fetish is not being corrupted in stereo models.

Stereo discs are in blue caddies, monophonic discs are in white caddies, and interactive discs (which play as a jumble of random scenes without an interactive player) come in black caddies. Mono and stereo disks will play on any type of CED player the same way mono or stereo FM radio will play on any type of FM radio.

That is how these things work, I was racking my brain for a minute wondering why someone else did it. I tried finding that old thread again. I am pretty sure stereo/mono wasn't what they were after just trying to use what they had around or could easily get.

Possibly using the stylus from in early sgt/sjt in a later model or the other way around.

Do you have THE GOONIES on VD?? (I cant find that either on its official VHS (All I can find of it is 'digitally processed' copies of 11474)) The videodisc IS STRAIGHT ANALOGUE....

I don't have Goonies, or a working VHS.

I have had some friends ask me about making VHS copies of some of my early LD's though, bot no ones wanted to set me up with a VCR and clean tape "Yeah, I'll let you borrow mine.. next week... Ah I'm not that worried about it anymore".

Thing is too, these friends are local, so if I did they can prove to me that they own some copy of the movie to help stay clear of those pirate lines.
