hey guys
I am working on a electro battery eliminator model p
no schematic
question is what do I replace this cap it with ?
Mallory capacitor type e.p.
3-.61ohms
max
6-2vdc
6 45
95234
that's exactly what`s on cap
2 black wires ground
1red wire checked OL
1green wire checked 30
using fluke 114 meter

I reinstalled tube is 5y3 powers tube but all I get is 1.6

Looks like a 2 section cap. .61 ohm = 0.61 farad = 610,000 uf at 2 volt
3 ohm = 3 farad = 3,000,000 uf at 6 volt.

Somebody chime in if I'm wrong...which I might be...

Can you un-crimp one end and pop the guts out and photograph them? Something in my head flags this as a non-polarized type cap. Kind of along the lines of using a capacitor instead of a filament dropper. I think that's where the whole "2-6VDC" bit comes into play.


Can you also list the two patent numbers? For some reason none of the combinations I've tried based on the photos turns up anything remotely relevant at the USPTO.

Just slightly wrong! Look up the Spiegel listing at nostalgia air. It shows a model P battery eliminator. The electrolytic capacitors for the 1.4 volt source are listed as 3000mfd @ 6volts or so. What's great about this is the caps are cheap as dirt. As a bonus, the filament supply has a filter choke.
The B+ circuit has 40mfd @ 150 volt caps.
I had one, similar to this and was branded "Perma Power". It used a selenium rectifier and was newer. Otherwise, same thing. :thmbsp:

I ran the numbers thru a online converter...seemed too high to me, that's why I was not sure....couple zero's too many.
