I've got some Zenith replacement parts packets that I'm inclined to pitch unless someone knows what they are:

103-287 diode

103-194 diode

903-190 diode kit

For the above, I'd simply like to know what kind of diodes these are. Rectifiers (PIV, amperage)? Zeners (voltage, wattage)? Varacters?

800-860 4 Lead Capacitor 22-7504-01

The above looks like a big orange drop with 4 leads, and includes a notice that this is a critical safety component. What kind of a gizmo is this?

My Zenith 1992 price list gives up the following:

903-190 is shown as "diode", last used 1975

800-860 is the universal 4-lead safety cap kit for 17/19/25" CCII (Duramodule)chassis.

I have two of these.

They're critical all right. Unlike the Chromacolors and early Chromacolor IIs with multiple 2-lead safety caps, the CRT goes bye-bye immediately if a white one opens without opening its safety interlock.

IIRC the 103-287 is a damper diode that subs the
103-193 in the upright chassii. I know we used them.....
Dont remember the other diodes.
The 800-860 is a good thing to have.

OOPS
The 4 lead cap works like this. 2 leads complete the collector ckt
for the Horz output & the other 2 complete the emitter ckt.
It is designed so if the actual cap opens one of the paths will open
thus killing the HV.
The origional ones were white & made by American Radionics.
They did not work as designed. When the cap opened the HV
would skyrocket & often destroy the set including the CRT
sometimes. There was a huge recall, they paid us $4.50 per
cap & a free cap for years out of warranty when we found them.
That was into the late 80's at least. In warranty was free & if
you had a destroyed set it got fixed no mater how many parts
were needed.

Thank you, gentlemen! That is very helpful. Now I can label the diodes and put them to use at some point.

Not sure what to do with the 800-860 four-lead caps, since I don't expect to be working on any solid state TVs. If anyone wants them, they are available for the cost of shipping (probably a dollar or two).
