Looks like a Zenith, possibly a Space Command, definitely B&W.

Ha. Before even scrolling to Eric H's reply, I sed "Zenith".

Yeah, a search on Google Image seemed to suggest Zenith, though I saw a couple of vaguely similar Motorola set.

She did date this picture to about 1960, which is why I didn't think it was color.

It is a 59' Zenith I have a full line poster at home that I can consult for the cabinet name and model. Zenith did not sell color sets to the public until 1962 IIRC...Same reason that they did not offer TV until 48' despite other brands starting to do so as soon as the war ended, Zenith liked to wait until technology designed by others was 'mature' before offering it.

I really think it was the Zenith management, that didn't want to pay RCA any more royalties, than they had to.
They also figured, that TV wasn't selling that well, post-war and color wasn't selling, that well in the late 50's, early 60's. That gave them plenty of time for research and development.
It's no secret, that there was bad blood, between RCA and a few of the other set makers. :thumbsdn:

No way is that a color set, you can tell by the shape of the screen. Love the vintage Christmas tree though. Wish I still had the one we had when I was a kid.

The closest set on my poster is model B2254 the Dover. Yours lacks the wood saturn-esq ring attached to the legs about 3" below the cabinet that the Dover has. Some sets in my poster have the space command bezel like yours, but the Dover does not.

Your set could be a model year newer than 59' poster I've got or perhaps a special order.

As I said above, my mom does think this was taken in 1960. She would have been nine, so who knows. :p

The only thing I know of from that picture that is still around is that glass fish, that thing sticking up near the middle center bottom. :D

Yes, I think this is a 1960 Zenith B&W console. 2 years too early for color offerings from Zenith. My grandmother's first Zenith color was a 1963 model, purchased in 1964 on closeout of last year's models.
