Has anyone ever seen a 1951 Philco Tv phono console
with the 12wp4(neoscope), CRT? I have seen the tabletop
models but not this one.

The brochure states: "The exclusive Philco Neotron CRT".
They were so exclusive, that no one else made or used one. I don't think Philco made any for replacement. :thumbsdn:

There were replacement tubes available at $85 wholesale when conventional rebuilt tubes were available for a $1 an inch. I bought a new one in '54 or so. The 12WP4 was not rebuildable because of the special gun and evacuation process. Originals were made in Holland.

They are extremely fragile and most shops avoided them because of the easy breakage and high cost.

Funny thing is they were used in Philco's lowest cost sets, importing them from Holland seems cost prohibitive?

WOW! Neat set! I hope you have the knobs for it.

I read once that the 1207 was the smallest round tube set that Philco ever made... smaller than their 7" electrostatic sets... could that be true? My 50T-702 is about 15" wide x 14" high x 18" deep (counting the CRT cup)... I would have a difficult time believing that the 1207 is smaller, but it might be possible, seeing how close the tube comes to the edges of the front panel of the set. :scratch2:

I don't think it's smaller than the 702, maybe a bit narrower but probably taller and deeper, I'd have to stand them side by side to compare.

It depends on how you measure, dimensions or cubic inches. It is smaller in some dimensions. It measures roughly 19 X 19 X 14 not including the CTR cup on the back. It was likely the smallest 12 1/2 inch TV in any case.

I've only seen two of those sets, in all the time, I was involved with TV sets. Never saw one working.
I also never knew, that the CRT was of foreign manufacture. I don't remember seeing a label, stating so. The chassis was one of the few at the time, with low B+ and not a voltage doubler.

I do have one, the Philco model 1282. It was in an old couple's
home for years I guess. I found it in Bristol Ct. She was just taking it
outside with her son to put to the curb. It has the pull out phono
in the bottom with the strange tilt mechanism and cartridge.
It is in excellent cosmetic shape, but the crt has an ion burn.
I have about 6 of these sets in table models and 3 have working
crts. The record changer will be the toughest part for me.
