A couple weeks before I returned to sea, a lady in the Boston area contacted me about a color Motorola... it turned out to be a 21CT2M. I was tempted to buy the set, but knew in the back of my head that I really needed to leave it alone. I have too many other things that take priority right now.

I thought the set would show up on ebay, but it never did. I called her recently about it, and she said she found someone that gave it a good home... which is what's important. Not to mention, the set's new owner got it for a pretty sweet price!

I haven't seen any posts about it lately, so, I'm wondering who got it? It's in GREAT looking condition, and I am hoping the insides and CRT are as nice as the outside of the set.

So, fess-up! Someone here???

I was the lucky guy. Could of had it for 50.00 but felt guilty because the set is like brand new and also a one owner set paid the 200.00 for it. Also the crt test as new. Its in my living room for awhike but do plane to sell it have no room for it.

I think the set is as rare as they get!
The set was built, when Motorola made sets that were the best built, at the time. The 56-57 models were definitely better than the Zeniths, at the time.
That was also the last year of Motorola color sets, for a while. :yes:

The National Capitol Radio TV Museum (whom I support) in Bowie Md has one just like it, with the 21" CRT retro kit installed IIRC.

Nice set, I agree, it would be nice to see a few more pictures! :-)

Oddly, many of the early color tvs did not have any color insignia... seemed like marketing missed an opportunity:

Regarding the retro kit, are you referring to a metal to glass replacement kit?
That model never had anything but a 21AXP22, RCA sourced CRT.
The set shown seems like it has a newer type CRT. :scratch2:

Correct... that set came with a 21" tube. It was the 19" sets a little earlier that could have a 21" kit installed.

Glad to see it was someone here that got the set.... which I figured it was. At the time she contacted me, I just couldn't see myself driving up to Boston... knowing that I was supposed to be winding down projects since I was getting ready to soon return to work.

Have you tried a slow start-up of it? How is the cover on the deflection yoke?

Some of you may have noticed in the photograph... it appears the set might be plugged in. You can see a wimpy little cord plugged in the wall in the lower left side of the picture. We cannot see where the cord leads to, but it did make me wonder if it was actually to the set.

I think its a very low hour set. Still has all Motorola script tubes in it. The yoke cover is very nice also. The cabinet and chassis is like new. Did fire it up and nice bright full raster. Did not try a video source yet. I have never put pictures on this sight but will try for you guys.

She REALLY deserves credit...for realizing it was not just "old junk' and sitting it out for the packer man--as so MANY would--and HAVE done !!

IN the right hands--that set is worth MORE than a CTC-4, since it is MUCH more rare !!

that doesn't surprise me, unless someone like one of us shows interest the general public could care less and they end up in the trash.

Thats how I got my ctc4 at an estate auction that was also nice for 50.00. Not too many tv guys at an estate auction.
