Anyone out there tried one of those RCA Converter Boxes on their old Analog Set? Good, Fair, Bad? I have used one on my RCA Set and to me this gives me a picture that is very close to what it should be. It makes the picture brighter, clearer, and sharper than my Digital Stream?

I wish I could still view analog signaal on my old set to refresh myself what it looked like. Darn

The RCA's seemed to work well, slightly better than the Magnavox.
When the signal conditions are right, they all seem to work rather well.
Some converters work better on some sets, than others. If I don't like the results that one converter gives, then I try another. Some sets don't work well with the Magnavox's. The audio is very weak, when using the RF out.
The picture is good. When using the line out, audio-video cables, the audio is fine. :scratch2:

Never saw one or tried one, but understand, they are the same as the Magnavox, Funai-built ones. :boring:

At the time reviews were being done on all the brands of DTV converters out there mostly in the mid-2000's, the Channel Master CM-7000 seemed to come out consistently on top for overall performance and having a better than average RF sensitivity. Also it was one of the few that had an S-video output. So that's what I went with using my freebie (almost) Fed-coupons.It picks up more stations than my DTV tuners in the Vizio LCD tv's.

So then how much difference is there when using a Channel Master Converter compared to let's say the RCA or Digital Stream? I looked at the price of a Channel Master and they are over $100. Therefore I am asking about how clear the picture would be and etc. if I invested in a Channel Master Converter. Do they have a signal strength meter on them?

The CM-7000 does not have a signal strength "meter" on screen. Looks like the newer generation CM-7001 may have this along with lots more bells & whistle features (including HDMI output). There's a few of the CM-7000's out there on ePay now for ~~ $40-$50 or so; about what they listed for in 2007.
