Hi all!

Today a friend of mine gave me this Zenith. I live in Italy and here this brand is pretty rare and I want try to save it. Restoring the cabinet and the chassis is not a big problem for me, but some parts are missing... Speaker (the one in the TV is not the original and is too big), front control door, tuner, knobs, motor, Space Command receiver...I hope you guys can help me, if you have some parts for my TV please contact me... Thank you!

And I have a few spare Zenith VHF tuners: one from a 1961 19" Zenith, one from a 1963 19" Zenith, and one from a 1965 19" Zenith, also maybe one from a 1959 21" Zenith console - but none with the motor.

Are you sure it originally had space command? Zenith made some sets that had push-button motorized electronic tuning but were not equipped with the space command remote system.

Thank you, tomorrow I will measure the hole for the tuner knob, I don't have the original one unfortunately. The previous owner had parts of the original tuner, maybe I can ask him a photo for help you.

Yes I'm sure, in the lower left there is the grid for the microphone and inside there is the trace of another chassis behind that grid.

@ Adam: the hole diameter is 1.6 in... I have sended your pic at the previous owner and he will tell me if one of those is the original knob of the TV.

I'm pretty sure if it is one of those knobs in the picture it would be one of the ones in the back two rows where the channel number shines through the center. The circular ones where the channel number shines through the top were used by Zenith in 59/60. Zenith used the three-pronged ones in 61, on non-space command sets. The others, where the number shines through the center, are 1963-66 knobs. But on the 61-62 space command sets, they used a knob that I don't have a spare of, where the number also shines through the center (but you can see one on my set in my thread "62 Zenith 19" SC300" in this forum) - your set might use one of those.

Today I removed the chassis for starting electronic restoring, I notice that two control knobs are missing :sigh:

A question: this is my first time with a Zenith space command set, anyone know if this TV need a 2-way SC (model 300) or a 4-way type (400)? Thanks in advance. A friend of mine have a 2-way chassis model S-56853 and I want to know if this parts can be fitted on my TV (chassis 16K23).

Your set looks like it has a channel up/down button on the front so I'd guess it would have originally been equipped with a 4 button remote, but it could possibly have been a two button...

It should be possible to adapt a 4 button tuner motor system to work with a 2 button remote, and the chassis can work without a remote chassis or an incorrect one with a few small tweaks.
