Picked this one up last week for $10. Works great and near mint. I try to get sets luke this whenever i see them and have never had to pay more than $10-$15. Again, no remote and not sure what to look for.

These are the sets I like. Looks like it is in great shape.

Use almost any Zenith remote or a universal.

Not sure. Haven't been in this one. Did they use them in the Space Command sets? I know they wete used in System 3s.

It is a 9-181 style set inside but may have had a later version. There was
a 9-214 but I think that had a comb filter. Too long ago..........

Most of those in that style of cabinet had the 9-181 main board and the 9-186 horizontal sweep module that stood up to the right of the main board.

I can't remember the numbers; but, there was a slightly newer chassis that was used in this same cabinet style. It had a horizontallly mounted main board, a vertically mounted horizontal module to the right of the main board, and a vertically mounted power supply module to the left of the main board.

Yesterday, I was at the flea market and they had a 1988 19" digitally tuned Zenith with green LED display. I suspect it used a 9-470 module. I don't know what they wanted for it; but, they normally price 19" TV's in the $25-$40 range (I can't get that much for the 19" sets I sell, BTW).

Don't mean to be ugly; but, I'm not paying more for a set than I can get for it (even if it's a set I plan on keeping). Awhile back, I was at a thrift store that had an early '80's 9-160 based 19" space command that looked good; but, they wanted $35 for it. Again, if I had that same TV, I'd have a hard time getting anything for it. For me to sell a TV, it almost has to be a later model with A/V jacks and 19" TV's usually bring $20-$25.

Had that '88 Zenith been $5-$10 and had it been turned on with a good picture, I would have probably bought it.

I gave away a 27" Sylvania (Funai chassis) set just last month. It was about 10 years old, with the flat tube, stereo sound, and remote control. THe cabinet looked like new, and it had a great picture.

I had it priced for $20 at my neighbor's rummage sale, and nobody was interested in it. I gave it away simply to keep from hauling it back across the street!

I gave away a 27" Sylvania (Funai chassis) set just last month. It was about 10 years old, with the flat tube, stereo sound, and remote control. THe cabinet looked like new, and it had a great picture.

I would have done the same thing. Nobody wants them except for collectors. That Sylvania was too new especially with having Funai parts just pretty much kills it. I usually don't bother if their newer than 89.

I keep getting them due to my work-on-anything reputation: I get a call from someone with "an old tv" and I cannot ask too many questions, just go and look only to find something much newer than imagined. Usually I end up taking it just because I don't want to miss that rare call for the real antique set.

That's the reason I don't like to give my stuff away (especially the vintage stuff) unless I know who it's going to. I don't want to give some joker something that I've worked hard to bring back to life, only to find out that he trashed it or otherwise destroyed it. At least if I keep the stuff, I know it's safe.

Yeah, my new policy now. The console was one i had picked up for $5 dead. Fixed it and used a few times but needed some cabinet work and a bit of tweaking but that's all gone now. I noticed the ad was gone today. Probably picked by a scrapper for the copper.:dammit:

Years ago, I gave a friend an Elac-Miracord 40A turntable so that he'd have a good turntable to play his newly obtained LP collection that he got from the local country station that was selling their records. About a year later, he told me that he sold it at a yard sale for $3 because he found a newer plastic Pioneer turntable and "newer is better." I gave it to him to do as he pleased with; but, I would have felt a lot better about it had he at least offered it back to me before selling it for $3 at a yard sale. I would have gladly paid him for it. After that, I never offered him any more stereo equipment - let him use his "newer is better" plastic junk.
