Decided to junk it pretty darn fast, partly because of the weak CRT. Never saw a set before that was so complicated inside. *Crunch* it is hissssstory.

That's a nice looking Hitachi cool remote storage, hope it works good for you.

Gee, the picture isn't that great. I might swipe a CRT from a lower-end Hitachi, plenty of those around. The picture was shrinking and expanding a bit vertically when I first started it, bad caps I suspect.

Primitive-looking OSD, reminds me of the early Zenith System 3 sets, I like it.

Hitachi where probably the cheaper brand in the day, that might explain why they are so plentifull now. But luckily for us they seem to be good products! Tube do not survive as long as the Zenith ones but they seems to provide good picture nonetheless.

I don't know of any CRT that comes close to the Zenith Chromacolor for longevity. Anyway, the remote is another indicator of heavy use, looks like it was dropped hundreds of times and the text that spells out "remote control" where it pushes in is very worn. Battery cover is gone naturally. The Panasonic console I had, the controls were so poorly designed, tiny buttons under the screen whose labels couldn't be seen unless I was down on all fours. Having the picture control buttons on the same panel made matters a lot worse. That's the only console TV I had that saw total demolition; the cabinet wasn't suitable for repurposing.
