Picked up this little 1975 JVC Model 3020 Portable recently.
It is a 5" black and white set with blue cabinet. It also came in red.
This also has a battery compartment on the bottom that uses 9 D Cell battery.
Made in Yokohama Japan
Nice collectible tv. :)

Yah, nice little tv.... So lets see where the 9-D-Cells go.... ?
Bottom...? or separate battery pack....?

Cute! That's some AC adapter...I guess that is pre-wallwart.

That has to be one of the earliest tuners with the VHF L/H switch I have seen.

Theres a large door under the set that slides out (held on by a flat screw) that holds all the batteries in it.

That's a nice looking set! Back when there was good quality in a 5" B&W TV, unlike the throwaway Jellybeans made in the late 90's early 2000's.

Indeed.
This set is funny as hell to look at. The AC Adapter is so large.. looks like the TV has developed a cancerous lump ! haha

I have always liked that model. The Seventies through about the mid Eighties were the better era for quality in battery powered TVs. It is too bad the jellybean sets from China were so cheaply built. They are a great compact size that can be used just about anywhere. Many earlier five inch sets are quite bulky by comparison. Still I have a soft spot for small B&W sets.

They also made a "Family" of Tres-Cute 3" sets, that had AM/FM/PSB bands, & at least one that had a cassette recorder in it. I have 2 or 3 of 'em, picked 'em up on Fleabay for typically a pittance, have given a couple away to wide-eyed kids.. One I got, if it WASN'T NOS, I would have been surprised..

I was thinking the same thing. That JVC is everything the cheap Chinese 5-inch sets were not.
