Well, after a long round trip to Phoenix, I finally got my CTC-7 home. It's mostly complete except that its missing the channel selector knob and the horizontal output tube (...and of course the DeLuxe emblem...) Cabinet is a little rough. It has the original 21CYP22 picture tube, which is weak. Can't get the gun balance adjusted on any of the guns, so it's got a lot of hours on it. I'm letting it wake up in the shop at 7V for the evening, but I don't expect it to get a whole lot better.

Very good score!! I hope you are able to awaken the CRT or find a replacement. Would rejuvenation be an option?

The 21CYP22 in my CTC 9 was really dead when I got it a few months ago but I did a light restore using a Beltron restorer and it's still checking like new today.

If the CRT doesn't wake up with just running it don't do anything hasty like hitting it with a brute force rejuvenator, if you don't have a Beltron I would wait until you can get one or find someone who has one who can come over and try restoring it.

Ditto here. I can't believe I went so many years without a Beltron. I've saved a couple of Round color CRTs that had weak emission (even with a booster) which had a lousy picture... now months after restoring them these CRTs are still looking and testing brand new. The old B&K could never do that!

So, what does the Beltron restore function do? I've avoided rejuvenating anything on my Sencore because of the risk.

Which Beltron model should I look for? There's an 8081A liste on the bay. Is that one I should I consider?

So..........has anyone got a spare channel selector knob for a CTC-7 they want to sell?

Yours is a later version of the CTC-7.

My set has a pair of 5U4GB's on top of the power transformer.

Best of luck waking up that CRT!

Great find Bruce! I really like the sets with the large "COLOR" on the mask.

Congrats on the Pensburry. I have one just like it. My cabinet is just a tad bit nicer than yours, which is to say it also needs a complete refinishing to make it like new again.

I see you are already on the list for 2 Deluxe emblems. The missing knobs are very common and easy to locate. I will look to see if I have a chanel selector knob for you.

Like others have said, if the 21CY dosent wake up, put a Beltron on it and it will almost surely come back to life like it was new. I had a 21CY that I was given a while back because the preson who gave it to me felt it was totally dead. AFter putting it on the Beltron, it now pins the needles at the top of the scale on all 3 guns. I consider my Beltron to have paid for itself at least 50 times by taking tubes that were given up for dead and making them very usable again.

As for which model Beltron, any one of them will do just fine. I paid about $40 for mine.

So many sets, so little time.

A close friend also has a Pensbury in beautiful shape that until recently was operating on all its original caps. The set wasn't used much over the years, but enough to keep it going. Now a total recap will be done with the hope that it will last another 56 years. BTW, original strong 21CY. :thmbsp:
Best of luck with yours!!!

would you say a beltron is better than say a CR-70 sencore when it comes to rejuv CRTs?

Thanks for the info. I've read several times about how good the Beltrons are, but there's really not much inside them.

seems less sophisticated than the sencore CR-70. I presume its up to the operator to just have a feel for how do to it (whereas the sencore has an auto mode that is pretty much idiot proof). Perhaps the Beltron just allows a more aggressive rejuv?

Sorry HiVolt, I checked my knob stock and although I have knobs that look like the Penbury chanel selector knob, they actually go to CTC5 Deluxe sets. The CTC5 knob has a short shaft hub and the one for the Pensbury CTC7 has a much longer shaft hub.:tears:
