Greetings, All...

I recently came across what I would, in lay person terms, call the "guts" of an RCA Victor 9-T-270. I was curious to find out if there might be any use, interest, or value in this piece of equipment. Can anyone out there offer me any advice? I will try and post pictures soon. Thanks.

The chassis can definitely have some parts worth saving for other (complete) similar models that are being restored, but there is not much dollar value to it, most likely, less than $50 I would guess. If the "guts" includes the picture tube, that alone could be worth more than $50 if it is in good condition, but it would need to be tested by a person who has a CRT tester.

That set uses a 16AP4 CRT. I had a hell of a time finding one for my RCA 9TC275, which is essentially a console version of the 9-T-270. If it still has strong emissions, then I'd say the CRT alone is worth $75-$100. The last decent 16AP4 on ebay sold for $106 and some change if I remember correctly. Just as an aside, the KCS 29 chassis puts out a phenomenal picture. Besides having a full 4 MHz bandwidth, it uses two DC coupled video amplifier stages, thus offering better low frequency response than almost any other set. If the cabinet were still around, this set would be more than deserving of a full
cosmetic and electronic restoration.

Don't all the RCA 9T-2XX sets have the two DC-coupled video
amplifiers? My 9T-246 does ... indeed the response at 3.58 MHz
is so good if you watch up close its actually annoying on
bright color areas. Its the best pre-digital B&W TV picture I've seen.

But remember ... what we see today on these sets is FAR
superior to when they were new thanks to solid state cameras,
not image orthicons.

No but location often makes it impractical to make a deal.

Do you have the picture tube with it? That would be the most valuable part, a good 16AP4 would bring a decent amount of money but the trick is knowing if it's good, the only way to know is to test it.

Anyone here near Long Island who can go take a look?

The picture tube, yoke, high voltage transformer and any part a person restoring one might need, would be of value. Of course, the unit as a whole, inside of its cabinet, working has its highest value to a person interested in a working old tv has a value. Least is of course its scrap metal value, mostly the steel.... While there are copper parts in there, you might just end up with little there because of the time required to remove it.
