How do you work these when the display dies ? ( And not available ) .

Don't worry... the tape format itself, and the video system it supports, will be long gone before the displays die, the caps explode, the EEPROMs forget, the glue turns brown and conductive, and itinerant scrappers break into TV stations and production facilities in the middle of the night to strip them of copper and gold. Who buys tape machines anymore, any way? :)

I've got pro HD equipment that's already reached doorstop functionality.

My Panasonic 7750s, BVU-800, and BVW-75s are cookin' right along, though.
