I'm just wondering if anyone knows where someone could get replacement 300-ohm screw terminals for a vintage TV. Closest I could find was this eBay listing:

But I don't need 100 of the things, I only need one! And also, I'm not sure those are the correct width (I'll have to measure to be sure, and I'm not in the same city as the TV at the moment). I'm looking at putting the UHF tuner I removed a while ago back in the set, and the original terminal board had the misfortune of someone yanking its lugs out via the attached antenna wire at some point in the past.

Does anyone think I posted this in the wrong section, by the way? I almost posted it in the classifieds section, but since I wasn't asking for a direct sale, I changed my mind and put it here.

Well, I think the spacing on the board that's on my TV is wider than the spacing on the ones I found on eBay, there, but I don't have the set with me, so I'm not absolutely sure on that.

Here's what I have.

Total width about 2 - 1/8".
Mounting holes 1 - 3/4" on center.
Screw terminals 7/8" on center.

If you can use it, it's yours.

That looks pretty close to what I'm remembering, but I'll have to measure to be sure. I'll be back in my apartment sometime this weekend, and I'll send you a message then.

The guy had an auction for 20 of them for only $12, no bids when ended 6/23. Most of his auctions are no-bids-at-closers if you look through his Completed Listings. The connection ends look to be either PCB-mount or maybe wire wrap on these.

I've replaced the terminals that were damaged on antenna or speaker boards.
The original phenolic must be intact. Just remove a good terminal from a scrap board.
I usually cut the scrap board to remove the terminal and straighten the folded over crimped tabs and insert them.

I thought about trying that, but in my case, the phenolic got damaged as well. It's generally intact, but the immediate area around where the terminals were inserted broke out, so now I just have two round-ish holes in the board that would have a hard time supporting new terminals.

Another suggestion is to use the newer type snap-in terminals, as found on the later model sets. You might have to enlarge the holes to get them to fit.

Try Gateway Electronics in St. Louis. When I was last there about two years ago, they had a big bin of them for 30 cents each.

I bought about a dozen and still have most of them. I would be glad to send one except it is storage after a move and I don't currently have access to them myself!

I would imagine this set did have a UHF ring antenna at one time. The VHF terminals were vertically oriented on one side of the set, whereas the UHF terminals were horizontally oriented near the top at the other side of the set, which makes me think it was designed with a ring antenna in mind. I'm not sure where I would come up with a set of those snap-in terminals, though.

I just got back to my apartment and measured the remainder of the board on my TV. It measures exactly the same as the one you have there, so I'll send you a PM about it soon.

Huh, I actually just found a couple of the snap-in style screw terminals in a ziploc bag full of small parts here in my apartment. I have no idea where they came from. It looks like these are designed for square holes, though, or perhaps just two thin slots each, so I'm not sure they will work.

They are designed for square holes. Hopefully, the holes in your phenolic board aren't too large. You'll have to file or otherwise alter the board to get them to fit.
I've had a Dremel tool for many years, just for this purpose. :thmbsp:
