I don't think this bends the forum rules too sharply. It's about as independently produced as you can get and if it's not free to download yet it soon will be. The man gets something from making videos for Tayside Regional Council; that's how he funds what he does. If you use the link then click on Xmas Trailer you'll have an idea of what it's about.
Local people from Dundee. Some already actors, some never been near a stage in their life.

Looks like it will be a quality production. PBS Local channel 13 in NYC plays classic movies and Indies after that on Sat. evenings. I have seen many Indie players go on to have professional movie careers, and there are many big actors that go back to support up and coming indie movie productions. A good outlet for the not quite Hollywood kinda films. Also requires better performances form the actors as there is not a large budget for special effects.

Acting varied a bit. Auditions were open to anyone who was interested, whether they had acting experience or not. The main criteria was they had to have the Dundee accent and use of words. The 'C' word and the 'F' word are used a lot but it's normal in parts of Dundee, not used as a hard insult. Calling someone a daft C--- is nothing more than saying he's not that good at what he does. If he gets into a fight he'll lose. Likewise if he steals anything or sells drugs he's the one that's most likely to get lifted.
What Glen did was take the basic plot and fit it to a local place. It's been done before but by companies with a fair amount of money. My eldest daughter was involved on the technical side. Public locations free to use. Budget £400, most of which was spent on sandwiches. "if they work for nothing the least you can do is feed them".
Dundee's an interesting place. Most people are friendly but there are a few who no matter how innocent your intentions, automatically come up with the standard "who you f****** looking at"?
The City Council is trying to re-brand the place, spending millions to turn it into "Dundee, City Of Culture". Will it work? Maybe, at least in some areas but there are others where having an English accent, or just looking like you don't belong can get you into trouble.
