Just picked up this rare little thing today for free.
The original owner was gonna toss it out in the trash.
Here's my vintage 1979 Panasonic CT-778 Quintrix 2 Portable color tv with 7" screen.
Works like new.
Made in Japan.
Manufactured January 1979

13 Channels VHF, 82 Channels UHF
a/c to d/c adapter included
weight 15 pounds
10" high, 8 1/2" wide, 12 1/2" long.

Very nice catch. Havnt seen one since the Gipper was CIC.
Quite rare & not cheap $$ new.
I think Panny made the best under 13" sets. Good quality,
nice pix, easy to work on if you remember the red screws......

First double check the model ##. Canadian set are different sometimes.
Then post it & I can look it up. Probably a jumper involved in the
plug also.

I had a similar Pantysonic...many years ago I lent it to a friend who was temporarily bedridden. Her stupid cat knocked it off on to the floor and ruined it.

Dont blame the poor cat ! If I were bed ridden there would only be

Those are very dependable little sets. We used one on the workbench for years as a monitor for VCR repair. It was turned on from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM six days a week for about 20 years, and always produced a quality picture. When I closed up the shop, I gave it to a friend who ran it in his garage for many more years. I wouldn't doubt it still works.

Ya, I'm dying to see if it works or not, I just don't want to blow it up putting power to the wrong pins.

I ordered the photofact for it, hopefully Sams can dig it out and scan it quickly!

This set produces a great little picture... nice color and super sharp. I don't know how many hours were on this set... at least a few since the lettering around the volume knob is worn off.

Hi You have a nice model and the picture is very , however, I see poorly made welds, where I put red arrows . May be i'm wrong but the welds are not like the others .

Just got out the Sams. It also shows a jumper from +12vdc to -12VDC pins.

OEM cable is

In my diagram, which pins would that be? Is that jumper part of the 120v cord?

I might touch up those solder joints in the future, but for now the set seems to play perfectly.

I have just picked up a similar set. It is a CT-700M. No tuner. Just a video monitor.

Just curious, did you run AC power to the two AC pins and then jumper the two DC pins?

I left the DC pins open. AC to the AC pins.

I'm wondering if the plug pinout setup arrangment is similar to the old Zenith 9" Portable Color sets from the 1980s where you had an AC Plug that had a large plug that plugged into the back of the TV and jumpered the 12VDC pins and plugged directly into the AC Pins to allow it to run on AC Voltage and then had a Car Adaptor that jumpered the AC pins and then plugged directly into the 12VDC pins and ran the TV on 12VDC for use in a car. :scratch2:
