hit something in the states I have to stand up early in the morning - really early.:boring:
The lousy timeshift makes it possible, that I have to be at times around
1.00 - 4.00 am european time at the internet.
This morning it was a 16mm comercial, as I remember a General Electric
TV set film made in the mid 50s.:thmbsp:
Since a while I am collecting 16 & 35mm films with interesting themes to
have good "food" for my 16 & 35mm TV station gear.:rolleyes:
Because I have no internet at home I drove to the gamer hell (Casino),
which is in the next small town, 2 miles down the icey road.:sigh:
Yes, I was not the only customer there, some men were sitting in front of
the electronic bandits junkin` their money!:no:
I was watching the auction:yes:, and passed it! More than 200 US$ is a
little too much early in the morning!:puke:

After this 50 cent investment I went home.
But whats that, I saw a big spider in MY HOUSE! I tried to kill him, not only
because of the lost auction, I hate spiders!:pistols:
The spider was better woken up than I and disappeared between some radios!:finger:
WHAT A LOUSY MORNING!:tresbon:

Now it is around 7.00 am, I am sitting in my office after a 40 minutes trip to
my work and I think about the spider! How he came into my house and how
can I kill him, before he gets children?:scratch2:
Oh, last but not least, I forget to shave myself and I left the number of
the ebay auction in my car!:dammit:

That sure looks like an interesting film. I have one of those 1955 GE sets. If that was transferred to CD, I would buy a copy.

I found this guy hanging out in my garage a while ago , a cousin to your spider , perhaps ?

PS , the distance between the holes is approx 2 inch spacing , to give a scale as to the size of this critter ...

Most spiders are harmless, and I leave them alone, as they'll eat the other bugs in the house.

Anyway "only" the DVD will be too expensive. I have no Paypal, and payments with
Western Union costs a lot. Before Hussein Obsama moved into the White House I made payments
(ebay/ I collect old TV guides!) cash in registered mail.
This worked fine for years and I shipped about 2000 US$ this way.
But then........ I lost over 200 US$ and gave up.:tears:

You might have been lucky when you missed this auction. Since most US-made acetate-base film stock shrinks at a slightly faster rate than Agfa stock, a 57 year old US made color print will probably be over one percent shrinkage and that exceeds the shrinkage capability of the 16mm Steenbeck flatbeds.

Just wondering, have you had any problem with the quality of Steenbeck replacement parts, now that Steenbeck has moved manufacturing from Germany to the Netherlands?

We have not had any yet, but I know some others in the US have found bad machine work on new replacement parts.

Courage & patience, my German friend...You never know, ANOTHER one might rear its head here in the next month or 2...I've seen it happen all the time on Ebay...Some really rare, exotic item will surface, & then another couple will pop up, too..Just keep yr eyes open...

I know that they moved to the Netherlands. But there are still some
service organisations in Germany, for example in Berlin.
The guy knows the old machines very well.
I heard that they produce NOW rollers for shrinked films.
Until now I had no bad experience with films.
Some smell more or minor, or no smell.
I have an american book about films in television, it is
a rare US book, will introduce it next.:yes:
I learned a lot from it.
But the stuff is new to me.
My old table has "truck fan belts", all other parts are standard
elektronics, made around 1964.
If you are into this hobby (O.K., there are forums for this gear, too):thmbsp:
please give me more information about your experience.
What I know is, that I have to keep my hands off pre-war 35mm stuff.
They burn, and a german collector told me, that the ownership of these
films in Deutschlandistan (So Germany is named by the italian Television
because of the strong islamisation :scratch2:) is forbidden.
A few years ago an archive of the german state department has burned down,
because the historic films inflame!:tears:
