View Full Version : New Years Eve 2013, what are you watching?
Kamakiri 12-31-2012, 11:39 AM Still up in the air as to what I'll be watching the ball drop on this year...though the 9T246 is up to the job, I had to twist a couple of the caps around to note the values, and I'm not comfortable powering it up until they're replaced....
My CTC-38 snapped a cap, so that's down too. My '56 GE portable was a mainstay, but that one quit about 2 months ago, and haven't got to it yet. My guess is the '67 Zenith color console.....since I replaced the convergence coil, she's been pretty good :)
What are you watching this year? And post pics!
Sandy G 12-31-2012, 12:05 PM Y'know, assuming I haven't said the hell w/it & gone to bed by then, I MIGHT just fire up my Zenith Porthole, & watch it on THAT..
hi_volt 12-31-2012, 12:08 PM Unfortunately, none of my vintage sets are operational yet :sigh:, so I'll be watching the Walking Dead season 3 marathon on my 67" Samsung.
Happy new year, everyone!
consoleguy67 12-31-2012, 02:54 PM If Dick Clark was still around, I'd be watching it on my avatar set, a 1964 Magnavox roundie combo. I watched the first Rockin New Year's Eve on my parent's friend's 1966 Maggie roundie combo.
Dude111 12-31-2012, 05:43 PM I probably wont watch anything..
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY :)
radiotron 12-31-2012, 05:49 PM 1956 GENERAL ELECTRIC PORTABLE!

DaveWM 12-31-2012, 07:02 PM 1st episodes of Bewitched and I dream of Jeanie
Eric H 12-31-2012, 09:00 PM I'm going to catch up on the second season of Fringe, eat some Chips with Green Onion dip and have a little Champagne.
Maybe I'll turn on the local coverage of New Years for a few minutes at midnight but overall I don't care about it all that much this year.
I'll probably check in here again sometime after but I expect most of you East Coasters will be in bed!
DaveWM 12-31-2012, 10:52 PM TZ marathon up next. Clemson beat LSU
I was watching the back of my eyelids. I went to bed @ 9:30.

AiboPet 01-02-2013, 09:59 AM I had the little Sony 301 on ALL day on the first....watching those old Twilight Zone episodes they run all day on some cable channel.
Was up on the 31st, but I don't really do the idiot thing with the alkies. Just had friends over....watched movies, then watch Conan get beat up by some little chinese guy, etc. Then heard all the idiots out there with GUNS at midnight. I always forget who that girl is on CNN. They keep inviting her BACK every year to do the whole countdown thing....and she appears to try and outdo whatever dumb thing she did last year. THIS time, leaning down to kiss Anderson Cooper's crotch.
Almost every year, I think I'm just gonna SLEEP through the whole thing...but friends always end up over because they know I don't do stupid stuff and get in trouble.
Jeffhs 01-02-2013, 07:13 PM I watched the ball drop from Times Square on ABC, on my Insignia 19" flat screen. Was getting tears in my eyes as I remembered Dick Clark's last couple of years as Ryan Seacrest's co-host of New Year's Rockin' Eve, and it didn't seem right with just Ryan running the show this year. However, I have to give Dick a lot of credit for sticking it out those last couple of years, even in spite of his problems at the time. NYRE, from this year forward, will never be the same.
RIP, Dick Clark. You'll be missed.
Eric H 01-02-2013, 09:35 PM I fired up the Predicta about an hour before midnight so I could keep track of what was going on with New Years, and I watched Fringe on the big TV while I was waiting for 2013.
Carson Daly looks really skinny on the Predicta because it was a widescreen broadcast. :D
AiboPet 01-03-2013, 07:07 AM Wow Jeff....I almost forgot that about Dick Clark. I do remember seeing him on the Time's Square countdown a few years ago and being quite alarmed by his condition, and how he was THERE and sticking it out like a trooper. I would rather listen to an angle grinder for three hours than Ryan Seacrest, so I have not watched the "Rockin Eve" countdown in a LONG time. I do remember him coming on in I think 2006 or so and explaining he had a stroke, but was getting better and he wasn't going to let that stop him from being there.
This was the first time I saw the CNN one I think. It seemed like Anderson Cooper was BABYSITTING whoever that girl is that was on with him. I don't watch CNN really unless something big is happening.
