...I need help. My 36" lattter-day Trinitron, ABOUT 10 yrs old,has started doing a most disconcerting behaviour...Displaying "Green/Yellow" in white fields, & then shifting to "Pinkish" almost immediately..Is this a sign that the CRT's fixing to Die ? I DON'T wanna surrender to the vile, dark forces of Flat-Screen madness, I wanna run a CRT as my Main Set as long as I can..

Unfortunately, it's likely the tube weakening, but you can try re-soldering the connections on the CRT socket board, and/or tap on the board. The 36" tubes seem to be holding up much better over the years than the 27s, but time is time.... I'd pick up a few free spares on CL while you still can ;-)

Like Charles said, CRT sets are practically free now, you can probably even find a nice 16:9 Sony XBR for practically nothing. If I wanted to stay with CRT that's the one I'd be looking for, maybe two or three of them so you have a lifetime supply. :D

If you want to stay with a 4:3 screen then make sure it supports Progressive Scan (Red, Blue and Green RCA Jacks) the picture improvement using Progressive Scan and a DVD player that supports it is not subtle at all.

Being only 10 years old Your Trinitron probably has it already?
