I agree - Antenna TV is in fact much better than TV Land is today, although the latter station used to have all sorts of classic TV programming until a few years ago, as did Nickelodeon's Nick at Nite overnight service.

MeTV is similar to Antenna TV, having the same types of programming. I watch both channels daily, as they carry most of the TV shows I grew up with in the late '60s and '70s. In my area near Cleveland, Antenna TV is on DTV subchannel 8.2 (subchannel of Cleveland's FOX station) and MeTV is on DTV subchannel 19.2 (subchannel of Cleveland's CBS station). In most areas these networks (Antenna TV and MeTV are carried in most US cities, but not all) will be found on subchannels of existing stations, although I understand in the Chicago area, MeTV is on its own channel as WWME-TV on channel 23. I don't know what station Antenna TV is on in Chicago.

Hello they never should have messed with tvland they should have left it alone I do agree metv and antenna tv is the way to go even though theres no retromercials that is o.k. with me. because I recorded them when tvland had then running...Timothy

Does your cable TV import stations from out of town? Many cable operators in smaller cities do just that for stations they do not or cannot carry directly, by virtue of the station being unavailable in that city, or even in the entire state. I looked at Antenna TV's interactive affiliate map last night, but found nothing for Antenna TV in Omaha, or anywhere else in Nebraska for that matter. I'm surprised Omaha's TV stations do not have Antenna TV on a subchannel, as do other cities. Maybe Antenna TV isn't available by any means on stations in smaller TV markets? :scratch2:

Until your cable operator does carry Antenna TV, you could build up a collection of classic-TV DVDs, or get a subscription to Netflix. I did both, some time before Cleveland-area cable systems carried Antenna TV, and even before the network existed. The advantage is that, with DVDs, you don't have to wait for the network to show your favorite program -- just pop a DVD into your DVD player and enjoy the show. The Netflix URL is www.netflix.com. For Antenna TV, it's www.antennatv.tv.

Do they air the original Benny Hill 50 minute shows or the 23 minute syndicated edits that the US always seem to get?

Antenna TV may not be available in Omaha, but MeTV, another classic-TV network, is available in that city -- on a subchanel of ABC affiliate KETV. MeTV also shows old TV programs from the '50s through the '70s, so you can see at least some of the older classic shows on MeTV. I watch that network and Antenna TV daily and enjoy the heck out of them, as they have almost all the old shows I remember from the '60s and '70s.

BTW, Antenna TV (and, I assume, MeTV as well) show versions of the older classic shows with sections cut out, :no: very likely so they can cram as many commercials in (!) as possible during any given half hour. If you can get DVDs of your favorite shows, you can then watch them without those annoying strings of commercials, some lasting as long as two minutes during the network runs. However, before TV was deregulated in the '80s (!), the FCC had set strict limits on time limits for commercial breaks. Since then, however, the rules have changed, with commercial time limits a thing of the past; local TV stations and networks can now run as many commercials as they want to or as they feel are necessary, which is why we have all those obnoxious and seemingly endless strings of commercials on TV today -- even on cable networks like Antenna TV and MeTV.

I would be patient. Your area's cable system may decide to carry Antenna TV some day. If they don't, there is no harm in calling or e-mailing your cable operator and asking that the channel be included in their lineup.

Kind of off subject, but for a list of TV shows from the 40's to the 2000's go to crazyabouttv.com. They're all sorted by decade. I remember watching some of the show from the 50's when they were first runs! Oh, that makes me feel old!

Hello there is another tv network called this tv they use to show Patty Duke Showand the Outer Limits and few other black and white shows I do not know if they still show them or not...Timothy

An advantage of finally installing a decent rooftop antenna is that I can now get ME TV from Baltimore. I haven't explored its schedule much, just seen a couple episodes of Remington Steele, which were a lot better than I expected. (never bothered watching when they were first run)

Some day, I will set up most of the SD ones with modulators into an in-house all-NTSC "cable TV" system for use with my antique TV sets. The HD ones can also be used in SD mode, and the RCA DTC-100 will be a good match with a CT-100 (their first color set and first HD tuner) or an 8TS30 or 630TS (since the tuner looks like those).

Which ones do you consider HD vs SD. I have several different makes.
On My daily watchers, I use the video outs, instead of the RF outs.
Also, I find that the Magnavox boxes don't work well with certain sets. Audio is extremely weak. :sigh:
P.S. What convertors does every forum member prefer. :boring:

The sound is superb!!! -- BETTER THAN WHAT IM USED TO HEARING ON DIRECTV OR OTHER DIGITAL!! (Sounds as good as when we only had analogue)

Most all stations in the states have gone to digital crap as ya know which i dont think sounds or looks quite as good!!


All you guys should do a scan in your area and see if there are any analogues left!!!! -- Hook up your TV to an antenna and scan from 2 to 69 and see what (if anything) is there!
